HOW LONG WILL THE SESSION TAKE?

I usually allow 1-2 hours for a session/shoot, maybe a little longer for babies. However, I don’t clock watch and if things run a little over that’s fine.

WHEN/WHERE WILL MY SESSION TAKE PLACE?

Your favourite park, a place sentimental to you, the beach, your garden, a museum…anywhere. We can start in your house if you like and maybe venture outdoors after, or we can just have the shoot all outside. I often shoot at Oxleas Woods, Hall Place, Danson Park, Lullingstone and Greenwich Park amongst others. Please bear in mind that if your chosen location is over 30 miles from Bexley, there will be a charge for fuel.

I like to shoot first thing in the morning or late in the afternoon – depending on the sunrise/sunset.  This is when the light is at is most flattering. The midday sun can sometimes cause harsh, unsightly shadows and make you squint, which is never flattering!  This can always be discussed at consultation stage.

WHAT SHOULD WE WEAR?

First and foremost you should make sure that whatever you wear you are comfortable.  Football kits and trainers rarely look nice or a nice photo so try to stay away from sports wear or big  sport logos.  Take a look at my Portrait Gallery for some inspiration, but feel free to call to discuss if you get stuck.

Colour schemes don’t need to be totally matching as long as you can maybe incorporate one colour.

As a rule of thumb I like to think that you need to be able to stand out from the background.  For instance, if on the day of your shoot it turns out to be a drab and dreary day – think about adding a pop of colour and avoid the greys and whites, etc.  Likewise, if it’s a bright and sunny day – think about more muted tones.

I refer to the colour wheel, for example if you are having your shoot on an Autumn day (where the trees will be full of oranges and yellows) aim for the opposite side of the colour wheel, and go for blues or greens.

You don’t necessarily all have to be in matching outfits, instead think about coordinating – as long as you don’t have every colour in the rainbow on between you! You can even coordinate with accessories; scarves, hats, etc.

The only things to avoid, I would say, is any large logos, motifs and gym/sports wear.  Even if your son/daughter’s most favourite character is Thomas the Tank Engine, the bright colours and pictures can be distracting.

Pick outfits that aren’t too trendy and that will stand the test of time. If you are unsure you can always get in touch and we can discuss.

However, as I said at the beginning , above all  make sure you are comfortable.

WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?

I have a very accurate weather app that I swear by, and it gives me an hour by hour breakdown. Unless its absolutely tipping it down or gale-force winds, the shoot will still go ahead  – we can grab a couple of brollies and jump in some puddles.  If the weather is completely awful, it more sensible to reschedule – but don’t worry about grey skies as that can sometimes produce the best light for photographs.

HOW MUCH WILL IT ALL COST?

The session fee is (£60/£70) depending on the day of the week. The session fee covers the shoot of around 1-2 hours, as well as the individual editing of each photograph.

Prints/digital images are purchased separately and packages start from £199.  Please click below the button for prices:

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER THE PHOTO SHOOT?

Approximately 2 weeks after your shoot, I will send you a link to your online gallery which will consists of all your edited photographs. You will then be able to view and make your selection (depending on your chosen package).

Once payment has been received, your package will be with you within 1-2 weeks. Please note – wall art will take approximately 4-6 weeks from receiving payment.
