Top Tips for choosing your wedding car

So you want to arrive in style right?!.....

For my big day, I had a beautiful white 1920’s Rolls Royce that took my dad and I to the venue, The Trafalgar Tavern, Greenwich.  I loved how passers by stopped and waved and cars tooting as we drove along….

Here are a few things to consider when choosing your wedding wheels.

Use a reputable Wedding Car company

To ensure you won’t feel left down on your big day … look at the National Association of Wedding Car Professionals. That way you’ll know you are using a reputable company and you avoid disappointment and added stress. Also go on recommendations, ask around.

Back up

Is there a back up car in case of any break downs (god forbid)? especially if your car is vintage. If you are lucky enough to be borrowing a friends car think about having a cab on stand by

Consider your wedding dress

Something that is often overlooked when booking a wedding car.   Will your dress actually fit inside?!  The first time a bride attempts to sit down in her dress can often when she’s getting into the car to go to the ceremony…Make sure you are comfortable on your journey to the ceremony – you don’t want to be uncomfortable and finding it difficult to breathe!

Are there any extras included?

Do they provide flowers/ribbons. If you choose an open top car – is it easy to put the top up in case of rain? Or if not do they provide umbrellas?  And most important……is there a bottle of bubbles with a couple of glasses in the back

How many people do you need to accommodate in each vehicle?

Its tradition for the bride to travel to the ceremony with whoever is giving her away. Do you need the car to make several trips….for bridesmaids and mother of the bride? Have you thought about how the Groom is getting to the venue.

Leave yourself plenty of time.

If you have got your heart set on a certain car. Its imperative that you book in good time. Wedding transport companies get booked up very quickly during wedding season.

How long will you need the car for?

As well as your journey to the ceremony - would you like the driver to wait around for  wedding photos after the ceremony? Would you and your new husband like a little trip around the block after the ceremony? This is an ideal time for you to both take a few minutes to be alone before the partying starts!

Plan your journey

Its worth bearing in mind a vintage car wont be as nippy as a modern car. Give your self plenty of time to get to your venue.

See the car before booking

In order to avoid disappointment make sure you have seen the car before you book it. That way you will know exactly what you’ll be getting on the morning of your wedding.
